Visualization of Financial Data
These information designs resulted out of the evaluation of the research project for the investment company Morningstar in Chicago. It represents the real data of a complete financial portfolio.
Documentation: Research in the Visualization of Financial Data
The company had already set industry standards by reducing financial data to three items: a pie chart, a triangle, and the style box. It was a challenge to consolidate these three images into one graphic device so that investors could check a portfolio's balance sheet by several forms of measurement at a single glance.
The Documentation Research in the Visualization of Financial Data shows the process, the ideas and the new possibilities of visualizing financial data.

«Creating products that are intelligently designed, attractive and display information in a helpful context is a core part of our business. Morningstar, at its heart, is an information company, so part of the design problem is how to display all this information in a way that is logical and helps the user extract greater value form it.» Quotation by Joe Mansueto, Chairman and CEO Morningstar
